[edit] Red Galaxy
[edit] Abstract
The Red Galaxy project was started to host the Founder's canon. The Founder's canon was inspired in large part by the Orion's Arm Project. The Founder's canon differs from Orion's Arm by having a more Luddite canon than Orion's Arm. Orion's Arm also has a different intellectual property policy. Red Galaxy is being based on a wiki, Red Galaxy can host multiple world building projects at the same time. Furthermore, worlds can easily borrow content from each other.
The Red Galaxy project is intended for science fiction world building. If you are interested in fantasy with elves, witches, and dragons you should consider working on another project. Constructed Worlds seems to be open to any and all content. You might want to work there. If nothing else works, I may be able to host a second wiki for fantasy world building.

[edit] Canon
A wiki is an information network. Therefore, there is no need for the Red Galaxy Project to limit the number of science fiction schools or canon that participate in the project. If you are not satisfied with existing canons, start a new canon.
[edit] Canon etiquette
A canon provides guidelines for a world building project. A canon articulates the artistic vision of an individual or the consensus of a group. Before editing a canon the proposed change should be thoroughly discussed on the discussion tab. If the change is controversial and you are committed to it, the best course of action may be to derive a new canon page from the one you were originally interested in.
New canon or artistic manifestos should be created on a new page. A category should be created for the new canon. Articles and narratives that are compatible with the canon should be included in the canon's category. In addition any new canon should be part of the Canon category.
[edit] Founder's canon
The Founder's Canon is so named because it was started by Trent Shipley who founded the Red Galaxy Wiki.
The Founder's canon provides parameters for building a science fiction setting that spans a fully colonized Milky Way. Dyson swarms of computronium are knit together by beam riding bullet ships.
Every star tends to be wrapped in its own swarm of satellites made by converting almost all available matter into intelligent matter. The result is an unimaginably complex community of beings from the very simple to those with godlike intellect. These stellar islands are connected by slower-than-light ships. Most ships are small traveling on on beam networks a few interstellar ships are massive. These large generation ships travel very slowly indeed.
