A stellar system's Dyson swarm forms an integrated ecumene with a single economy, though meaningful internal divisions frequently exist. The typical system has no or negligible biological life. All "life" is technological and based on advanced computronium. Sapient grade computronium is in turn reliant on an even larger mass of supporting infrastructure that is maintained through markets and planning. Indeed, except for reliance on radiation from the system's star to power the swarm and exposure to regional catastrophes, notably supernovas, Dyson swarms of the Red Galaxy are little exposed to what might be considered "nature". It follows, that for a compartmentalized or individualized actor within the swarm its contextual experience of the swarm's political-economy also functions as ecology. Furthermore, from an overall perspective of the swarm, the political-economy considered as a whole can be considered the Dyson swarm's effective ecology. Therefore, it is reasonable to think of post-biological Dyson swarms as having incredibly large and complex ecological-economies.
